HOME> OUT OF AREA CUSTOMERS From time to time we have customers from out of the Sacramento area decide we are the company they want to entrust their project to. One time we had a small armoire arrive in a crate from Phoenix, Arizona, about 750 miles away--unannounced! While we prefer to know ahead of time that you are sending your item to us, we will receive it even if surprised. Following are a few suggestions to make your experience a good one. We strongly recommend that you communicate with us before shipping your piece. Photographs and measurements will be essential in giving accurate information. Please mail or e-mail to us, photographs, a description of what you would like us to do for you, and side to side, front to back and top to floor measurements. We can then call or e-mail you back with information. Use a professional crating company or mover. If your furniture item is valuable enough to send to us, spend the extra money and have it packaged securely by someone who knows how to do it right. You should be able to make arrangements with the same company you ship with to handle the return crating and shipping as well. We have a company here we work with, so we can also put you in touch with them if that would help. Mistakes sometimes happen, so do insure your piece. As with all our local customers, once the item arrives here, we will evaluate its repair needs and then confer with you before commencing any work. You could then either mail a deposit check or we can take a payment over the phone. For restoration or repair of antiques and other fine pieces, shipping, conferring and proceeding works well. However, for items requiring complete stripping and refinishing, we ask our local customers to come in to our shop when it is time to select a color. For customers unable to come in for the color selection, it works best if you send a separate item that we could use to match the color of the refinished piece to. Please do understand though that everyone sees color differently. The age of the finish on the sample effects color. Most wood finishes have several colors, not just one. Topcoat materials influence the color you see. And so on. We are very good at color matching, but we do not guarantee that the item we refinish for you will exactly match your sample. Finally, most communities have companies like ours. We genuinely want to serve our customers well. One way we can do that is to suggest you visit some of the companies in your area before shipping your piece to us. If you feel comfortable with what you see after visiting, save yourself the expense of shipping and do business locally. If you do not feel confidence in your local companies, then of course, send your pieces to us. We will be happy to serve you well.
